The temperate rainforests and conifer belts of the Pacific Northwest are a global foraging powerhouse. Autumn rains bring golden and white chanterelles, king boletes, hedgehogs, and lobster mushrooms in commercial quantities, while matsutake fruit under pine and post-fire and spring snowmelt morels draw seasonal pickers across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and British Columbia. Much of North America's commercial wild-mushroom supply flows from these woods.
Spring morel flush, then a major autumn flush after the rains return.
